35 weeks – Has baby become lazy?

Your baby has already acquired more of his looks as newborn.

He may now measure around 45-48 cms and weigh about 2300-2600 grams.

He is busy practicing breathing, sucking, holding and all other natural reflexes before coming into this world. Majority of the babies that are born around this period perform well after birth. However, few may require little special assistance.

His movements are now more restricted. Not because he has become lazy, but due to limited space available as he overgrows and the amniotic fluid reduces. Kindly keep close watch on his movements after meals to ensure his well-being.

As the uterus continue to enlarge with the growth of the baby, you may experience,

  • Breathlessness due to upward displacement of the diaphragm over the lungs.
  • Early satiety due to compression of the intestines.
  • Bony pain of ribcage due to pressure.

However, all these discomfort would subside once the baby would descend into the pelvic cavity around 37 weeks of Gestational age and the intra-abdominal pressure is relieved.

The purpose to share this information is to sensitize you to enhance the bondage between you & baby. This broad information is purely based on the scientific data collected. However, every child may grow at a variable pace.
